A SINCERE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED IN OUR MILITARY:
Much blood and human treasure has been expended in our nation’s history.
So many died or were injured in the forts of New England, on the fields of Gettysburg, in the trenches of Europe during WW I, on the beaches of Normandy during WW II, in the jungles of Vietnam, and on the sand dunes of the Middle East!
They fought to make the world a better place. They fought to preserve our Constitution; a document from which all our freedoms are derived!
First and foremost, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of the brave individuals who have served our country.
The American military represents the best of who we are and who we can be. Despite differing backgrounds, the members of our Armed Forces are united by a shared commitment to support and defend the United States. In this they have stepped up and set an example for the world about the potential of the American experiment called democracy! That example is chief among the many contributions we honor on Veterans Day.
“Our debt to the HEROIC men and VALIANT women in the service of our country can never be repaid. The have earned our undying gratitude. American will never forget their sacrifices!”~ President Harry S. Truman
“They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate.” ~ President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s official address announcing the D-Day invasion.
“There is no way to maintain the frontiers of freedom without cost and commitment and risk. There is no swift and easy path to peace in our generation. No man who witnessed the tragedies of the last war, no man who can imagine the unimaginable possibilities of the next war, can advocate war out of irritability or frustration or impatience.
But let no nation confuse our perseverance and patience with fear of war or unwillingness to meet our responsibilities. We cannot save ourselves by abandoning those who are associated with us, or rejecting our responsibilities.
In the end, the only way to maintain the peace is to be prepared in the final extreme to fight for our country–and to mean it.” ~ John F. Kennedy
We owe all the men and women of the Armed Forces a debt that can never adequately be repaid!
